Manuel "Ballena" Jiménez is a well rounded Percussionist and multi instrumentalist, specialized in Afro and Flamenco rooted music.

Manuel "Ballena" is a live and studio musician, Percussionist and multi instrumentalist, specialized in Afro and Flamenco rooted music. He masters instruments like the Flamenco, the Peruvian and the Cuban Cajón, Congas, Bongos, Brazilian Pandero, Berimbao, the Gwoka drum, Djembé, Balafón, Dumdum, Talkin drum, Alfayas, Chekeres, Batá drums, Darbouka, Bendir, Calabass, Body Percusión, the Drumset and other percusion instruments. 

Ballena is a band member, arranger and director in several projects and with several solo artists in diferent musical genres. He has colaborated with internacionally recognized mucisians. His profesional live and studio experience starts in 1997 playing with African percusion groups, Flamenco, Cuban Rumba, Sacred African Rhythms, Latin Jazz, Swing, Samba and Maracatú on drumset, BossaNova, Balcan music, Rock­Pop, all kinds of Batucadas, Reggae, Ska, Mandinga Music, Sukus, Cumbia, Salsa and more. 

Aside of also supporting theater and dance shows for children, he is the composer and performer of didactic concerts. Ballena has played all over Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Denmark, Tunísia and Senegal. He was a participating artist at the “Festival de Jazz de Madrid”, the “Jazz de Vitoria Gasteiz”, the “Pirineos Sur”, the “Festival de Jazz de Fuerteventura” and the ”Festival Internacional de la guitarra de Túnez”.
